PSLE Score CalculatorAL scores and Posting Group, from marks or ALs

An Achievement Level (AL) is the band a PSLE subject mark falls into, from AL1 (90 and above) to AL8 (below 20). The PSLE Score adds the four subject ALs, so it runs from 4, the best, to 32. Enter marks or ALs below and this PSLE score calculator works out each AL, the total and the Posting Group.

PSLE Results Day 2026

MOE and SEAB give the 2026 PSLE results a tentative window of Tuesday 24 to Wednesday 25 November 2026. The exact day is fixed only when SEAB’s marking processes are complete, and is then announced through the media.

Tentative window

24–25 Nov 2026

How the date was announced before

  • 2024Announced 13 Nov 2024; results 20 November 2024, 11am.
  • 2025Announced 18 Nov 2025; results 25 November 2025, 11am.

Dates as MOE and SEAB list them, checked 15 Oct 2026.

What happens on the day

  • Students collect their results at their own primary school, at the time MOE announces.
  • Each eligible student receives the S1 Option Form with the results, which explains how to submit secondary school choices online.
  • Parents then choose up to six schools. MOE encourages including at least two or three whose previous cut-off point is less stringent than your child’s PSLE Score.
  • Students who joined the Direct School Admission exercise also receive their allocation result with the PSLE results.

How the PSLE AL Score Works

Each subject is scored in one of eight Achievement Levels by its mark. The bands are deliberately uneven: narrow at the top, where many students cluster, and wide in the middle, where finer splits mean less. That is why the rulers in the calculator have bands of different widths.

A Foundation subject is graded AL A, B or C. For Secondary 1 posting, MOE counts those as AL6, AL7 and AL8 when it adds up the PSLE Score.

The arithmetic is short: English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science each give one AL, and the four are added. In MOE’s own example, AL3 in English, AL2 in Mother Tongue, AL1 in Mathematics and AL2 in Science make a PSLE Score of 8. Inside a subject only the band counts, so 89 and 90 in Science are a whole AL apart, while 46 and 64 are both AL6. The calculator shows how many marks would reach the next band for each subject. MOE’s score calculator page carries the official tables.

From PSLE Score to Posting Group

Since the 2024 Secondary 1 intake, students are posted through Posting Groups 1, 2 and 3 instead of Express, N(A) and N(T). The group decides which schools a score can be considered for and the level most subjects start at.

Scores of 26 and above

Posting Group 1 needs a score from 26 to 30 and AL7 or better in both English and Mathematics. A score in that range without them, or a score of 31 or 32, is not eligible for a Posting Group. MOE then offers the option to repeat the PSLE, or to go to NorthLight School or Assumption Pathway School with the principal’s endorsement. There is no pass mark for the PSLE itself.

Taking a subject at a harder level

A Posting Group sets the usual starting level, not a ceiling. For students eligible for Posting Group 1 or 2, AL5 or better in a Standard subject opens that subject at G3 or G2, and AL6 in a Standard subject, or AL A in a Foundation subject, opens it at G2. The calculator lists which subjects qualify.

Higher Chinese and SAP schools

Higher Mother Tongue is graded Distinction, Merit, Pass or Ungraded and sits outside the PSLE Score. Any student who took English and Chinese can choose a Special Assistance Plan school. A Pass or better in Higher Chinese with a PSLE Score of 14 or better earns a posting advantage there: among students with the same score, the better Higher Chinese grade is considered first, before the usual tie-breakers. See how MOE’s posting works.

Using Your Calculated PSLE Score in SchoolFinder

School cut-off points change every year, so this page does not list them. MOE’s SchoolFinder holds each secondary school’s PSLE score range from the 2025 posting, and it filters by score.

  1. 1

    Open SchoolFinder for secondary schools

Choose the Secondary journey, then open the criterion “PSLE score range of 2025”.

  2. 2

Set From and To around your score

MOE says a school’s cut-off typically moves by one point a year, and two or three is possible, so widen the range by a few points each way.

  3. 3

    Read each range

The first number is the first student posted last year and the second is the last. SAP schools also show that student’s Higher Chinese grade in brackets: (D), (M) or (P).

Meeting last year’s cut-off is not a guarantee. Posting goes by score, then the order of choices and the vacancies left, with tie-breakers for equal scores. Read MOE’s guide to score ranges before you shortlist.

If a subject sits a few marks under a band, the months before the PSLE are when that gap is easiest to close. Our primary school tuition page covers what one-to-one help looks like in P5 and P6, and the PSLE guide gathers our subject-by-subject articles.

PSLE Score Calculator FAQ

Yes. A Foundation subject counts as AL6, AL7 or AL8 for its grade of AL A, B or C, and MOE says students can qualify for Posting Group 3 or 2 with one or more Foundation subjects. The total still has to be 20 or better for Posting Group 3.
